Introduction
Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to introduce its most awaited electric SUV, the Mahindra XEV 9S, in the Indian market on November 27, 2025. The company has been gradually increasing excitement around the model, releasing multiple teasers that highlight its design language and key features. In the latest teaser, Mahindra has officially confirmed that the XEV 9S will come equipped with a triple-screen setup at the front along with dedicated rear-seat entertainment displays. Positioned as the all-electric alternative to the popular XUV700, the XEV 9S aims to bring a premium EV experience to Indian families.

The teaser also showcases a pair of rear-facing screens, accompanied by the caption “Space for Everything,” hinting that Mahindra may include a versatile entertainment system inspired by the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) concept previously seen on the XEV 9E.
Built on Mahindra’s advanced INGLO born-electric skateboard architecture, which also underpins the XEV 9E and BE.06, the XEV 9S is expected to offer a distinct design identity despite sharing some proportions with its ICE counterpart. Buyers can anticipate a more futuristic exterior, a feature-packed and tech-forward cabin, and the refined performance advantages of a fully electric powertrain.
The XEV 9S will come equipped with an openable panoramic sunroof, similar to the feature available on the ICE-powered XUV700. Passengers in the middle row can enjoy reclining seats, complemented by rear AC vents and a unique “Boss Mode” function, which allows the rear occupant to electronically slide the front passenger seat forward. Combined with the reclining backrest, this setup offers a relaxed, chauffeur-style experience, allowing occupants to stretch out comfortably during journeys.
In terms of design, the XEV 9S features a closed-off front grille, a full-width LED light bar, and triangular LED headlamps. While the overall silhouette remains largely similar to the XUV700, subtle refinements give it a more modern and aerodynamic appeal, including flush door handles, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and gloss-black cladding around the wheel arches. At the rear, the SUV is expected to sport connected LED taillights, a reworked bumper, and skid plates, completing its premium and futuristic design language.
The Mahindra XEV 9S is expected to carry over most of the premium and tech-rich features seen on the XEV 9E. Anticipated highlights include ventilated and electrically powered front seats, multiple wireless chargers, dual-zone climate control, connected car technology, multi-colour ambient lighting, Harman Kardon sound system, head-up display, “Groove Me” mode, and even remote parking functionality. On the safety front, the SUV is likely to feature Level 2 ADAS, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, and more, ensuring comprehensive protection for occupants.
Under the hood, the XEV 9S is expected to use the same powertrain as the XEV 9E and BE.06, thanks to Mahindra’s INGLO electric platform. Buyers can choose between two battery options: a 59 kWh unit and a larger 79 kWh pack, delivering 231 PS and 286 PS, respectively, with 380 Nm of torque in both variants. Based on figures from the XEV 9E, the expected driving range could vary between 542 km and 656 km, depending on the battery, with both configurations featuring a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup for balanced handling and efficiency.
